Driven by globalization, international trade has become an important pillar of economic development in all countries. However, with the changes in the global economic landscape, trade issues and disputes are also increasing. As the world's most important trade organization, the World Trade Organization shoulders the important task of promoting global trade stability and fairness.

Since 2018, the relationship between the world's largest economies, China and the United States, has been tense, and the global market and supply chain have also been significantly affected. The impact of the Sino-US trade war is not limited to bilateral trade, but also involves the global economy. The mutual imposition of tariffs by the two countries has led to increased import and export costs, which in turn affects the operation of the global supply chain.

Many multinational companies have also been forced to adjust their business strategies due to increased operating costs and reduced production efficiency. Trade barriers have caused market instability and affected the global investment environment. Faced with the uncertainty of the economic environment, companies often adopt a wait-and-see attitude, thereby reducing investment and expansion plans, further dragging down global economic growth.

With the changes in the economic and trade landscape, the existing international trade mechanism needs to be re-examined and adjusted. Since the establishment of the World Trade Organization, the multilateral trade system has been the cornerstone for promoting global trade liberalization and economic growth. However, the rise of trade protectionism in recent years has threatened the stability and effectiveness of the multilateral trade system.

It can be seen that the stability of international trade is crucial to the development of the global economy.

In this meeting, we will be in the World Trade Organization to discuss the global negative economic problems brought about by the US-China trade barrier after 2018 and the re-examination of the international trade mechanism in 2024. At the same time, we will discuss supporting measures to stabilize the global supply chain so that global trade problems can be alleviated. We hope that the representatives can devote themselves to this meeting and propose substantial solutions.
